Sega Genesis

The Sega Mega Drive — sold as the Genesis in North America — is Sega’s 16-bit home console from 1988. A faster processor and a harder-edged line-up let it trade blows with the Super Nintendo: Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage and Phantasy Star all came from this machine. Mega Drive games on this site run through the Genesis Plus GX core, which also covers Game Gear and Master System.
